Happy September to You!

Dear Patients and Friends,

September has a way of bringing life back into focus. School is underway. Vacations are winding down. Sports, work schedules, carpools, homework, and activities are filling the calendar again. We plan for almost everything. But there’s one thing that often doesn’t make the calendar:

As parents, we make sure our kids have school supplies, dental checkups, sports equipment, healthy lunches, and everything else they need to succeed.
But what about how their bodies are handling the demands of the new school year?

  • Backpacks.
  • Hours of sitting in classrooms.
  • Computers and phones.
  • Sports and practices.
  • Less free time and sometimes less sleep.

And adults aren’t much different. We’re sitting, driving, working at computers, exercising, managing stress, and trying to keep up with increasingly busy lives.
The body is amazingly adaptable. But as we talked about in our last email, symptoms aren’t always the first sign that something needs attention.
Often, they’re the body’s way of finally saying: “I’ve been compensating for this long enough.”

  • How am I moving?
  • How is my posture?
  • Am I getting enough sleep?
  • Am I exercising regularly?
  • How am I handling stress?
  • And am I taking care of my spine and joints—or simply waiting until something hurts?

At Lakeview Center Chiropractic, we believe healthcare shouldn’t begin with pain. It should begin with protecting your ability to move, work, play, travel, exercise, and enjoy life for years to come. And that’s an important lesson to teach our children, too. Don’t just take care of your body when it hurts. Take care of it so it can continue taking care of you. Make September your family’s month to reset some healthy habits. Your future self may be very glad you did.
